Common sense tells me: To live my life to be the best person I can be. The best husband and father. To be honest, kind, considerate, compassionate, patient, caring, giving, fair, understanding, forgiving, motivated, focused, enthusiastic, reasonable, aware, and educated. To give my best effort at everything I attempt. To evaluate the situation and conclude the most productive and efficient outcome.
Common sense tells me: That ALL people are created equal. Everyone deserves respect. That everyone has the right to choose how they live their lives and choose what their beliefs are without judgement or condemnation.(within the realm of good, of course) A persons actions define their character.
Common sense tells me: Each of us has an obligation to help one another. We have a duty to lift each other up, not tear each other down. That the correct answers are in the truth and facts. The human race has so much to learn.
The selfish modern American in me wishes to be back enjoying my life with my family. Instead I, like countless others are forced to turn our eyes ,hearts, and time towards Washington. Not in admiration and pride, but with disgust and shame. Shameful of how we have become a nation of followers with no pride. Disgusted with the entitled, hypersensitive complacent attitudes of mainstream Americans. While a corrupt government charades as an oracle chosen for and by the people. I am not talking about events of recent months. I’m talking about decades of corruption rooted deep in the foundation of government. Both parties have the same goal, just different styles of execution. The fighting we see is not for the constituents in their parties, but for the special interests that fund the parties. As well as to perpetuate the illusion of concern for the common working man. We have allowed this to happen. Over the years we have come to see “duty to country” as enlisting in a branch of the military. When our first duty is to be involved and to protect and defend America.
It is all our fault. All of us in our own way enabled this outcome. We got lazy! One of the main principles was to have the people passionately involved with the affairs of the nation. When the people become complacent and look to their government as if it was their mother, we lose motivation. “Someone will bail us out.” There is no incentive for people to adapt and overcome. We’ve lost our drive to be the best citizens, spouses, parents and neighbors that we can be. We’ve lost our pride in being Americans. The second that Hollywood made everyday people “Stars”. Media fueled that hype and the art of perception began to pollute the minds of the public with fantastic visions of fortune and fame, the easy life. We became a nation of people who said “I’m gonna be somebody” “I’m gonna make a difference”. The “Me” nation. While we look to find ways to live the good life we don’t see other people already figured out how to live the good life at our expense.
We forgot that the constitution was also a pledge made by “We the People” to protect and defend the ”Great Experiment” against threats both foreign and domestic. The very foundation is based on the people being involved and informed with their government. We have not been. We are finally starting to cross party lines and speak out together. Demanding oversight and accountability, together. We are starting to come around. Aware of the propaganda machines, buzz phrazes, talking points and smear tactics. We realize we are being manipulated into division. This is what I fight. I fight for us to once again be the United not divided States of America. I fight for liberty, conservation, progress, equality, accountability, justice, human rights, the best solutions and strict government oversight.
”Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government.”
